You won't want to miss a single one!

When Navy pilot Ryder Westbrook is shot down, his only thought is making it home—to the place he left behind a long time ago. But dreaming about the small town of Eagle's Ridge and going back are two very different things, and upon arrival Ryder finds himself in the middle of another battlefield—an old family feud between the Westbrooks and the Tuckers. To complicate matters, he needs disputed land to start his second career at the local airfield. He decides to enlist the help of beautiful Bailey Tucker, but the chef soon has his senses spinning in another direction…

The last person Bailey is interested in helping is golden boy Ryder Westbrook. After a painful personal betrayal, irresistible attraction to another man, who is probably too good to be true, seems like a terrible idea. But she also needs something from the Westbrooks, a chance to start over and build the restaurant of her dreams.

Ryder and Bailey make a simple plan—work together to get what they both want, but what happens when they find out what they really want is each other?

  • Modern Day Romeo and Juliet

    By Mpomper514
Loved reading the story about Ryder and Bailey, which is the first in the series 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers. Barbara Freethy never fails to pull you in so that you feel like you are part of the story. Ryder and Bailey both come home to heal - one knowing they want to stay and put down roots, the other trying to decide what direction to go in. Eventually each one realizes that they need the other to help with getting something they need to reach their dreams. The more time they spend with each other, the more the chemistry ignites between them of course it doesn’t help that they are in opposite camps in a long standing family feud, and each family is upset that they are associating with the enemy. In the end, love conquers all.
  • Outstanding Book!

I was hooked from the first page! I thought “Ryder” was a fun story. I always like to read about people coming back home to stay. I enjoyed the family dynamics and loved how all the storylines were resolved. Barbara Freethy did a great job of setting the stage for this series. I definitely recommend this book. I’m looking forward to seeing how the other authors carry the series forward.
  • A Tale of Two Families

Ryder is the first of 7 books about brides and soldiers. This one is written by one of my favorite authors, Barbara Freethy. She puts a new spin on the Romeo/Juliet or Hatfield/McCoy feud. Ryder is a Navy helicopter pilot who comes home after he is shot down overseas. Bailey is a chef who comes home after being accused of causing food poisoning in NYC. Each needs to find their way in a small town called Eagle’s Ridge and to do that they must stop the feud between the failies. An enjoyable read with a happy ending. What more can you want. Am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

RYDER by Barbara Freethy. New series "7 BRIDES FOR 7 SOLDIERS" Bailey, thinking she is now the laughing joke from coast to coast in the culinary world. Returns home, first day and she meets Ryder, who has a financial venture to talk over with her grandfather. Impossible with the family feud, that would be a death wish. Ryder tries his grandfather, and with the yelling, and saying it's family honor. He needs the land to bring in bigger planes, for help with his operation and business for town. Her dream of opening her own restaurant, could it be the one that's been closed. Ryder and Bailey both want something from her grandfather. How can they work together, and what about the sparks between. A great beginning to this new series. The plot, the places, keep you interested to the last page. Readers will definitely want to read this new series by Barbara Freethy. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
  • Awesome Read....Loved It

Wow, Barbara Freethy does it again. What a great read. Being retired military I’m always interested in military stories. Ryder is the first book of the new series. I loved it. I couldn’t imagine holding a grudge for all those years but it was really cool to read about it. This book captures your attention from page one and holds you til the end. Thanks Barbara for yet another great book. I look forward to reading the next ones in the series written by your friends. Awesome
  • Ryder by Barbara Freethy

Ryder begins a new series: 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers, each book to be written by a different author. This is Barbara Freethy’s contribution, and it is a wonderful beginning. Set in a small town, the story centers around a 65 year old feud between two of the founders...one a Westbrook, the other a Tucker. Their grandchildren work together to end the feud and perhaps find their forever along the way. Of course , there are obstacles to overcome and the past has a way of interfering. It is a sweet story about forgiveness and new beginnings that will touch readers on many levels. I loved it. I voluntarily reviewed the ARC I received. Highly recommend.
  • Loved Ryder

As the first book in a multi-author series, Barbara Freethy's "Ryder" sets the bar high. She draws you into the story from the very intriguing beginning. Ryder Westbrook returns home to his small town after a Navy career. He helps out Bailey Tucker who has escaped the big city. I love the way Barbara Freethy reveals the secrets of the characters to each other and the readers bit by bit. This story has family drama, dilemma, rescue and romance mixed together in a five star read. Expect no less than perfection from this author.
  • Great start of a new interesting series.

    By Livesfornascarracing
This is the start of a new series which will consist of seven different authors writing about seven different soldiers. Really looking forward to reading the remaining six stories. I think this is a great concept as you get to see how other authors go with the story. The first book is the story of Ryder Westbrook, a Navy Pilot and Bailey Tucker a Chef. After Ryder gets shot down all he wants to do is go home to his small home town. As the story of a Ryder and Bailey gets started it makes you wonder how they are going to get together, but knowing the series is called 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers you know it’s going to happen later. The story kept me interested with a little suspense thrown in. I actually read the book in two days and really enjoyed it. Loved the interaction between Ryder and Bailey. Loved how the communication flowed between the two. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Hoping that they get a mention in the other books. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance. Have time, cause if you are like me you are going to want to keep reading and forget about anything else. In fact my husband got pizza for dinner the first day cause I lost track of time. I love stories that drag you in and keep you going. This is one of those stories. Who doesn’t like a “happy ever after” story.
  • Good read

    By ledoss
This is a series of seven books written by seven authors. I have the pleasure of reading the first book. I enjoyed this light story very much. It is an easy entertaining read. One item I always enjoy in a book is when the characters actually talk to each other, instead of assuming an answer, then twisting the story up with silly drama. This story is straightforward and the two main characters actually talk out their problems. Good read worth the time spent.
