Excellent reading!!! Set in a time when women were thought of as commodities, Character Beth was definitely a renegade to that idea and set inroads for women in this story. The characters portrayed in this book came alive so beautifully as Julia Brannan skillfully wove her magic with words to make it happen. I highly recommend this book. It elicits a lot of emotions not the least of which was interest in the time setting, mystery and suspense, and evoked a lot of emotions about the perils women faced back in that time setting. Page turner for sure. Definitely a wonderful read!!

Enjoyed the strength of Elizabeth but wished to read of the unmasking of the “Mask” and her reaction. Now my imagination gets to work overtime.

This was an interesting story. It kept moving, and kept me reading. I liked that it was not repetitive as many are. The end was surprising as it should be.

Miss Julia Brennan has written a well documented book and chronicle on the Jacobites and their support to James ll etc. her characters are interesting and well created albeit somewhat bland and the denouement of the story is not satisfactory being unable to excite. There is a need for follow ups of the story of Elizabeth and Sir Anthony and since this book has been written in January 2015. and “ Mask of Duplicity “ is purportedly #1 in the Jacobite Chronicles, where are the following ones? Fear not. they are available t Amazon .com
